Ghidorah commands all the Titans except Kong and Mothra to attack major cities as a plan to terraform the planet into a suitable habitat. Unfortunately, Ghidorah was unaffected due to his extraterrestrial origin and regenerated his severed head.įollowing Godzilla's supposed death, Titans around the globe start to awaken from their slumber upon hearing the call of Ghidorah, the new alpha. However, the victory was short-lived as the Oxygen Destroyer was dropped in attempt to kill both monsters. Ghidrorah turned his attention to Godzilla, who in a surprise attack, managed to rip off one of Ghidorah's heads. The two briefly engaged in a brutal fight until Ghidorah overpowered Rodan. When Rodan was awakened from his containment site on Isla de Mara, he was drawn into fighting Ghidorah. In 2019, King Ghidorah was awakened by Emma Russell, who was working with an eco-terrorist group led by Alan Jonah in a misguided attempt to restore balance, Ghidorah awakened and killed Vivienne Graham and a majority of the G-Team, while Mark, and the rest of the Monarch officials escaped aboard the USS Argo. Since the San Francisco incident, when their presence was made known to the world as a whole, they have been classified as Titans, which originates from the prefix in their biological designation, Titanus. However, the event also seems to have prompted the unveiling of MUTOs discovered long before the San Francisco incident, such as Kong, Mothra, and Rodan. They have been sighted throughout history, as evidenced by a variety of cave paintings, drawings, and stories featuring fictional creatures.Īfter the MUTO attack on San Francisco in 2014, more and more MUTOs are gradually uncovered, such as Ghidorah within Antarctica in 2016. However, it was discovered that they survived by going into hibernation, subsisting on the natural radiation from the Earth's core. The MUTOs are different species of ancient creatures that were once thought to have gone extinct. Other more malevolent Titans are classified as "destroyers," such as King Ghidorah, Rodan, Scylla, Camazotz, MUTO Prime, Mechagodzilla, and the Skull Devil. Such Titans are typically classified as "protectors," and include the likes of Godzilla, Mothra, Kong, Behemoth, and Methuselah. While Titans can be incredibly destructive and dangerous, Monarch believes some of them to be benevolent and a part of the planet's natural ecosystem. Before the events of 2024, Godzilla called all but Kong to rest to prevent them from falling to Ghidorah's "spell," after sensing his skull being utilized for Apex Cybernetics' anti-Titan weapon, Mechagodzilla. Many Titans also began to converge on Skull Island for reasons yet to be determined. Under Godzilla's rule, the Titans returned to their natural habitats, healing the damage to ecosystems caused by human activity, while Godzilla himself prevented them from attacking human cities. The dormant Titans were then awakened by the extraterrestrial King Ghidorah, who established himself as the alpha Titan until he was killed by Godzilla. For this reason, most Titans are named after mythological beings from around the world which they may have inspired in the first place. Monarch also discovered evidence that Titans and humans coexisted in ancient times, with the Titans worshiped as gods and serving as inspiration for many mythological monsters. Containment and research Outposts were typically constructed around these dormant Titans. By 2019, Monarch had discovered nineteen Titans across the globe, the majority of which were found in a state of deep hibernation. Many Titans respond to an "alpha," a Titan which has cemented itself as the strongest of the creatures, typically by defeating the previous alpha. Titans are said to have thrived in the planet's ancient past when the Earth's surface was much more radioactive than it is now, and retreated underground and entered states of dormancy as this radiation declined. While Monarch initially designates any such creatures it studies as Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms, once they are formally identified they are then classified as Titans and given a scientific name under the genus Titanus.Īlthough Titans come in many forms, most if not all sustain themselves on radiation and emit a form of radiation that has restorative effects on ecosystems.
Titans are ancient gigantic creatures studied by the scientific organization known as Monarch.
